So this was my points haul.
A drop in points from the previous gameweek. Plus a deduction of 4 points for making that extra transfer to get in Ibra makes me with an effective total of 46 points, just a whisker above the overall average of 42.
I am very slowly inching my way into midtable form. Nothing spectacular, but nothing great either. Let’s see what I can learn from this team’s performance.
Valencia’s 3 bonus and cleanie shows that between him and Shaw, it’s likely to be a flip of the coin for points haul. One thing’s certain, they are must haves under Mourinho, if only for their cleansheets.
Firmino and Lamela gets an assist apiece, to finally give some breather to those, like me, who stood by them. Well, for Lamela I had to trade in Eriksen for him in order to accomodate Ibra. Redmond did not do anything and got a yellow instead. Negredo was quiet and so was my frontline heavies of Kun and Ibra. A disappointing week for the frontline. Very disappointing is the 3rd week in a row where Stones was unable to keep a cleansheet. He did not even finish the game due to an ‘eye injury’. What a joke.
Only bright spark in the game was Hazard who shone in Chelsea’s demolition of Burnley. If he continues in such rich vein of form, he may even surpass his high FPL haul of 2 seasons ago. Definitely a good decision to have him from the word go.
This gameweek revealed a few things which could rock the very foundation of the template team. Aguero with a possible 3 game suspension due to his caught-on-camera elbow to Winston Reid’s face; Sanchez and Sterling exploding; Ozil coming to live; Baines back on penalty duties.
With the international break coming, this means a flurry of transfer activities across the board. I may even be tempted to wield my wildcard to remove Kun and do some minor surgery to the team in order to chase the form players and bandwagons.
Will be coming up with a strategy piece on thoughts for chasing value vs giving time for your team to gel before knee-jerking.
